Most investments fund projects. Few build the systems that allow systemic transformation to succeed.

ThePivot.Earth's Role in Systemic Transformation

ThePivot.Earth serves as the coordination layer that aligns governance, capital, and implementation across complex regional systems (also named a backbone organisation).

We steward the governance and sequencing architecture required for systemic investing in place-based contexts. This helps ensure that philanthropic, catalytic, public, and private capital can reinforce one another rather than fragment across isolated projects.

We support the design of capital architecture in collaboration with independent Strategic Capital Facilitation partners.

What is a Strategic capital facilitation partner?

The Problem We Address

The Coordination Gap in Systemic Transformation

Most regions face fragmented governance, isolated capital deployment, project-level measurement, short funding cycles, and lost institutional learning.

There is no shortage of activity.

What is often missing is durable coordination across actors, capital, and time horizons.

What We Are Building

We are designing and stewarding infrastructure for place-based systemic transformation.

This work:

  • Aligns actors across ecological, economic, governance, and capital domains.
  • Engages capital at the design stage.
  • Sequences change across time horizons.
  • Builds trust, relationships, and shared governance before scaling capital.
  • Documents learning into transferable infrastructure.

We are currently applying this approach in building a coalition for a regional food resilience initiative in Fraser Lowland / Lower Mainland in North Cascadia.

What This Means for Funders

For funders and investors, this role is designed to:

  • Increase cross-sector alignment.
  • Clarify sequencing logic before capital scales.
  • Strengthen governance and transparency.
  • Embed safeguards against capital capture.
  • Support long-horizon institutional continuity.

Time Horizons

Systemic resilience unfolds across phases:

1–3 Years: Infrastructure Formation.
3–7 Years: Capital Reinforcement.
10+ Years: Structural Resilience.

Deliberate sequencing means aligning the order of actions so governance, collaboration, and capital reinforce one another over time.

Invitation

This work is in early design.

Capital architecture will be developed collaboratively with Strategic Capital Facilitation partners as governance and sequencing frameworks are refined.

We welcome:

  • Funders interested in infrastructure funding.
  • Strategic Capital Facilitation partners.
  • Governance collaborators.
  • Regional implementation partners.

Experience in Systemic Transformation

Our work builds on decades of experience designing and leading complex transformation initiatives across public, private, and cross-sector systems.

ThePivot.Earth team has led complex transformation initiatives across public institutions, private enterprises, and cross-sector collaborations. Our work has focused on environments where multiple stakeholders must align strategy, governance, capital, and implementation over long time horizons.

This experience includes systems optimization, governance redesign, and organizational change initiatives where improving the coherence of entire systems mattered more than delivering isolated projects.  Through ThePivot.Earth, we apply this background to place-based regenerative initiatives. We help stakeholders identify leverage points and steward coordination architectures that allow governance, capital, culture, and implementation to reinforce one another over time.
